unda dml loudspeaker (2023)

The DML (distributed mode loudspeaker) is a relatively new development in speaker technology, derived from helicopter sound-proofing. Instead of a magnet motor vibrating a flexible cone to produce sound (pistonic motion), the DML attaches a motor (exciter), directly to a panel substrate. The unda DML is an ultra-thin floor speaker constructed out of cnc-milled aluminum, clad in canvas grills inspired by traditional chinese room dividers and abstract ink-wash paintings.
